Frieze London and beyond

Frieze week is upon us, bringing 300 leading international galleries and a series of commissions, talks and feature sections across Frieze London and Frieze Masters.

London’s busiest art week sees a number of satellite fairs and collateral exhibitions and events beyond Frieze London. ArtRabbit breaks down the information: what’s there to do, what should not be missed?

Frieze London

For the 13th edition, Frieze features 164 galleries from 27 countries presenting work of some of today’s most significant and exciting contemporary artists. Frieze London sees the return of Live, a section dedicated to live performances and participatory projects: You might bump into wandering twin girls conjoined by their long hair, a recreation of Tunga’s Siamese Hair Twins from 1984; or let Ken Kagami draw an intimate portrait of you in under one minute. Focus returns as a destination within the fair giving emerging galleries a platform. Pay a visit to Kolkata based Experimenter (G29) showing Praneet Soi and his exploration of identity, culture, history and fragmentation within the city; or London based Limoncello (H24) showing sculptures and installations by Jesse Wine.

Frieze Masters

The fourth edition of Frieze Masters showcases 130 leading modern and historical galleries and offers the opportunity to discover a world history of art. You can also browse the artworks that the galleries brought to the fair here.

Sculpture Park

Set in the English Gardens between Frieze Masters and Frieze London, the Frieze Sculpture Park is one of the fair's highlights. The outdoor exhibition includes 16 new and historical works and is free to the public. Most of the sculptures will be on display through 17 January 2016.

Frieze Talks

Frieze Talks is a series of daily lectures and panel discussions taking place at Frieze London and Frieze Masters. The programme, co-curated for the first time by Christy Lange (Associate Editor, frieze) and Gregor Muir (Executive Director of the ICA, London), includes talks by Tania Bruguera, Douglas Coupland, Vivienne Westwood & more. Access to all talks is included in the admission ticket, but make sure to reserve your seat from 12pm on the day at the auditorium.

Frieze Projects

The annual Frieze Projects is Frieze’s non-profit programme. Curated by Nicola Lee, the different projects respond to the fair architecture with commissions drawing visitors into temporary, mobile and evolving environments. Seek out Jeremy Herbert’s underground chamber below Frieze London (P5), or rest in ÅYR’s Comfort Zone (P1).

Frieze Artist Award

Rachel Rose, b.1986, USA, is the winner of the 2015 Frieze Artist Award. She created a scale-model of the fair’s structure (P7). Enter mini-Frieze to experience lighting and sound design simulating the sonic and visual sense frequencies of different animals inhabiting The Regent’s Park.

Frieze Stand Prize

The winner of the 2015 Stand Prize for outstanding presentation by a gallery is London’s Stuart Shave/Modern Art
