A compulsion towards the carnivalesque and a vibrant trashy aesthetic are key to Flora Bradwell's playful practice. Encompassing painting, sculpture, video and performance Flora's work revels in the generously grotesque, using camp and theatrics to demonstrate the ridiculousness of patriarchal systems. Flora completed her BA in Painting at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2009 and her MFA at The Slade School of Fine Art in 2021. While at the Slade Flora received the The Felix Slade Award, The Jeanne Szego Prize and Sarabande Emerging Artist Bursary. Flora's work has been exhibited, screened and performed internationally including at the Saatchi Gallery, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, The Royal Academy of Arts and the ICA in London, at Future DMND, LA, Zaratan, Lisbon and at the European Media Arts Festival, Osnabruck. Flora has completed residencies at Elephant Lab, London (2022) Cyprus College of Art, Paphos, SIM, Reykjavik (2021) and Colart, London (2018). Flora also curates art events, exhibitions and happenings across the UK and is currently Co-Director of Bad Art.
