About
Totemic tributes and phallic towers echo the ancient roman amulets of flying penises that were worshiped for good luck and fertility. From the Hindu linga cult to the esoteric symbolism of the Bhutan penis murals, the phallus has long been exulted as a source of magic and power.
We live in a new world of technology, oversaturated with pornography and sexual imagery. Large corporations exploit sex to subdue and numb the masses; music videos, billboards and commercials are all infiltrated, this uniform stream of images becomes the humdrum, channeled into the subconscious from an early age.
As an antidote to today's prevailing porn aesthetic the exhibition celebrates sexuality playfully and openly in a myriad of paintings, sculptures and performance. Discarding the boredom of over-saturation the show seeks to rediscover the fantastical phallus, joyously embracing the penis.
