Born in Coventry, Twinkle studied Fine Art (BA Hons) at Kingston University, spending 18 years in London before heading to Margate where she now lives. As well as exhibiting widely in the UK, Twinkle has also exhibited internationally. In 2013 Twinkle was invited to exhibit and participate in an artist residency with Tinsel Edwards at Galerie Michaela Stock in Vienna, and in 2010 was selected to exhibit as part of an emerging British Artist show at Redbull’s prestigious Hangar-7 Gallery in Salzburg.

Twinkle’s paintings are inspired by the poem Fable, which is a haunting portrayal of a refugee written by post WW2 poet Janos Pilinszky. Journeys, displacement and longing are at the core of Twinkle’s imagined landscapes. Using oils on paper with mediums that by their very nature oppose each other, painted layers distort and separate. Unplanned stains and drips start to form something of the familiar. Strange, fairy-tale-like landscapes are pulled out of the random markings, and minute detail such as houses, boats and trees are painted amongst them.

As well as painting Twinkle also curates’ exhibitions and writes and co-edits for the Margate Mercury magazine. Previous endeavours include singing in The Fairies Band, co-founding indie record label Pushing Pussy Records and collaborating with artist Tinsel Edwards.
