Following a tour of Youth Hostels in England and Wales, Morris & Griffiths show a body of work created in response to the trip.
About
The exhibition explores ideas of travel and leisure, looking in particular at the way in which we respond and interact with landscapes. Trails/Olion includes work across a range of mediums: gathering and documenting impressions of the places they visited, their thoughts on journeying around the country in this manner, and reflecting on the spirit of the YHA.
Morris’ responses include monotype prints and wall-drawings based on moments captured in a series of sketchbooks. Griffiths’ work combines video and audio works (have a listen on the headphones and feel free to rewind, fast-forward etc.). All are evocative snippets of moments from their trip, alongside some found objects (on the shelves) that we invite you to examine, touch, smell.
Whether you are from the area or visiting, this is a charming reminder of the feeling of being on holiday, slowing down and having time to notice things. And of the nostalgia of holiday memories.
