Explore how Renaissance artists depicted the annunciation.
About
Join curator Caroline Campbell for a discussion tour exploring the variety of ways in which Renaissance artists depicted the Annunciation, the biblical scene of the announcement by the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive a child, born the son of God.
The 20th-century British sculptor Sir Anthony Caro described Duccio'sAnnunciation as 'delicate picture' emanating 'feelings of love' and was inspired to create a sculptural response to it. We will examine the two artworks together.
