About
HANS & FRITZ CONTEMPORARY is pleased to present the exhibition THE FOOLOSOPHER for ART NOU by the artist MARC BADÍA. The body of his work focuses on the hermeneutics of images in a pictorial practice and installation, using humour and mystery as tools of criticism.
‘My heroes have always been fools. The kind of fools that know how to tell a bad joke. The kind of jokes that leave you with a bitter taste. Bitter because there’s no possible utopia in them and because when laughing one accepts that everything is absurd, that the language is orthopaedic and the norm is arbitrary. In a way, it dismembers any elitism in the culture and leaves the intellectual tense and looking like an idiot. They don’t seem to stand the idea that someone can laugh outside the axioms that they have established as the peak of the sacred, even knowing there’s no such thing. That’s why they are tense, because the fact that bad jokes work, proves that everything is absurd, even their strengths built with so much effort. My heroes have always been fools…’
