Event map

Ancient technique of bowl making, with a ball of clay and creation of Chawan tea-cups. Raku firing.

About

What you will learn:

- To produce Chawan cups and the Pinching Technique
- About bisque firing;
- To prepare glazes for Raku firing;
- Decoration techniques.

The workshop starts on Friday so we can have time for the first firing in the afternoon.

Miguel Neto

Professional ceramicist, with formal education from CENCAL, lives and works in Caldas da Rainha, recently opened his new studio together with the Paula Violante. Excellent ceramic art since 1994, his pottery is distinguished by its elegance and simplicity of forms and colours. His curriculum includes also bigger work like murals for public space. Recently, he made the porcelain sealing at the cave of Livraria Lello in Porto. Over the years, Miguel held many exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, and we are glad to have him teach again in Cerdeira in 2019.

Paula Violante

Ceramicist, graduated in ESAD Caldas da Rainha and completed her formal education with an internship with the ceramicist Renato Costa e Silva. Paula lives and works in Caldas da Rainha where she recently opened her own studio together with Miguel Neto. Paula has been collaborating and sharing her knowledge with Cerdeira for three years now.
