TO ACT is a triptych of solo exhibitions by Montreal artists Emmanuel Galland, Sayeh Sarfaraz, and Michael Patten. Reunited by independent curator Laurent Vernet, the artists will exhibit from November 2021 to January 2022.

About

S'AGITER is a deep desire to spontaneously take action. It is a feeling both individual and shared by the artists and the curator, experienced in both domestic and public spaces, in reaction to the confinement and distancing resulting from the current pandemic crisis.

A TRIPTYCH. Gathered under the title S'AGITER, the recent research of Emmanuel Galland, Sayeh Sarfaraz and Michael Patten follow one another. Their approaches intersect in the same place to bear witness to compulsive creative gestures; to vivid emotions linked to the everyday, the political and the gathering.

PULSIONNAL. The idea of a triptych of exhibitions has been built up through discussions between the actors of the project since the beginning of the pandemic. These exchanges are crossed by an intention that something must happen; that we must realize together, a project, and this, without particular means.

DESIRE. It is a strong need to deal with the intimate and the collective, the personal and the political, while quickly giving shape to the desire to exhibit, without waiting for the result of a file sent to a broadcaster.

OUT OF FRAME. Artists and curators discover the HANGAR 7826 and immediately want to invest it. Its architecture with brutalist accents, as well as its unexpected location in an alley where the life of the Villeray district takes place, contribute to the singularity of this space.
