Welding steel forms of an elegant and theatrical character, renowned figurative sculptor Rick Kirby balances monumental presence with an air of graceful watchfulness in his first solo exhibition of gallery works.
About
Kirby has forged a hugely successful career as a sculptor, with 28 public commissions to date. He has a large portion of work on public display throughout the UK, including a permanent installation outside the Houses of Parliament in London. His sculptures have been unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II, HRH Princess Margret, HRH The Duke of Kent and Chris Smith, Minister of Culture. Kirby is also part of many private collections, his work complementing family gardens and homes across the UK and Europe. Kirby has participated in residencies and symposiums in Switzerland, Canada, Moscow and the UK, and has won several awards, including First Prize in the Essex Open, as well as the Rouse Kent Public Award in 1998, for which he was later selected as a member of the Judging Panel in 2007.
