Nature and the Ideal: Pioneers of British Landscape, is running until 2 October at the Bishop Trevor Gallery at Auckland Castle.
About
Featuring a series of masterpieces by some of the most influential artists of the 18th century, the exhibition will take visitors through the development of British landscape painting which soon became one of the most enduring and significant genres of British art.
Some of the artists whose work will be on display at Bishop Trevor Gallery exhibited to the public with the Society of Artists of Great Britain or, later, at the Royal Academy. These include painters Richard Wilson, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Thomas Gainsborough RA, George Barrett, George Stubbs ARA and George Lambert.
