Frequencies: Family and Youth Workshops
31 Jul 2021 – 22 Aug 2021
Cardinal Pole Catholic School
London, United Kingdom
Artangel presents Frequencies — an exhibition by Oscar Murillo featuring over 40,000 canvases made by students from all across the world, on view for FREE at his old secondary school at Hackney’s Cardinal Pole.
Frequencies is an exciting long-term project by Oscar Murillo and is opening to the public for the first time since the initial experiment began in 2013.
Finding its home in London, the exhibition is located in Cardinal Pole Catholic School based in Hackney.
Frequencies will display over 40,000 canvases created by students, aged 10-16, from across 30 different countries. Paired with a 3.5 metres high video-wall showing montages of the archive, to be watched seated in the agora.
The unique works express the subconscious and unconscious young minds at key developmental stages of their lives.
Frequencies will also feature Disrupted — a new set of works stitching together canvases with interactions by the artist via gestural painting marks.
Partnered with curatorial interpretations by London experts in art, fashion, music, culture and live educational workshops.
Visitors are encouraged to walk around the installation freely as there are no given routes to follow.
