A film exploring feelings about our libraries: voluntary run and those lost and threatened with closure.

About

The film, Alive Archive As Now brings to the fore the incisive cuts to libraries and represents something of New Cross Learning Library activities. This is presented as a visual soundscape which meshes with hands that share, give, learn and do. But other hands emerge … for on the other side of this voluntary library success story, is the threat of further library, gallery and museum closures and the loss for those already closed.

Scenes from the borough's library cuts and closure meetings, local demonstrations and petition sign-ups are woven with protest posters and the hands that grip the banners. A social confusion gradually becomes apparent, questioning who we are? And where do we intend to go?
