About

During Berlin Art Week 2018, Galerie Thomas Schulte will open a comprehensive exhibition of early works by American artist Alice Aycock. After graduating as a student of Robert Morris from Hunter College in 1971, she joined the circle of artists around the legendary 112 Greene Street Gallery in New York as one of its youngest members. In the wake of Land Art and Post-Minimalism, Aycock already in the first years of her career created a series of pioneering environmental and participatory installations made from wood, stone and concrete, oscillating between sculpture, architecture and landscape. The exhibition will feature two of her early installations alongside drawings and photographs of her contribution to Documenta 6 and other related projects.
