Artist duo Darren Nixon and Rowland Hill have published weekly videos to Instagram, a shared practice which explores world building, club culture and process-led work. To celebrate the release of their 100th video, you are invited to experience all 100 in-person for the first time in Manchester.
About
They don't have 100 screens, but you do.Darren and Rowland invite you to become a collaborator in a mass act of communal resource-sharing by presenting one of their videos on your phone during the event, enabling everyone present to experience a large body of moving image works simultaneously. Your device will remain with you at all times and there is nothing to prepare; just come along with a charged phone to take part!
The event will also showcase a number of live performance adaptions of the video works on display and will be followed by drinks and music.
About the artists
Since meeting in June 2022, Darren and Rowland have each published a short video every week to Instagram, an output which has steadily built up an online following. Adopting expressionistic, energetic, suspenseful and sometimes unsettling visual effects, this ongoing video series serves as ambiguous promotional material, combining social media filters with the hype-filled rhetoric of analogue rave flyers.
