The Donald Watson Art Gallery is one of the jewels of Waterston House and a favoured venue of many of the UK’s leading wildlife artists and photographers, all with a shared love of depicting the natural world.

Opened in 2005 by the late Magnus Magnusson and named after the well-known Scottish ornithologist and wildlife artist, Donald Watson (1918-2005), the gallery is a custom-built display space which has been committed to exhibiting the best wildlife art from across the country since it opened in 2005.

Nature is both inside and out when you visit this unique gallery which has stunning panoramic views of Aberlady Bay Local Nature Reserve. A glass wall floods natural light into the building and draws the eye outside, both into Waterston House’s own surrounding garden and water features, and to the dramatic and beautiful bay beyond. Its positioning is the perfect complement to the images of nature and wildlife on display inside.

The Gallery has a dedicated all year-round programme of exhibitions and shows a great variety of artists, all sharing a love of depicting the natural world. Find out who's currently on show, here. A bright and exciting space, the gallery runs a new exhibition every two months showing contemporary landscapes, wildlife art and illustrations in a variety of media from paintings and drawings to prints, craft techniques and photography, all with a keen focus on the inspirational world of birds.
