Situated in the heart of South Kensington, a stone’s throw from the V&A, Natural History and Science Museums, Sofia Gallery is the jewel of the newly opened Bulgarian Cultural Institute London. Our stunning, bright and fully refurbished Gallery opened its doors at the beginning of October 2011, after the official opening of the Institute at the end of September. The perfect central location provides easy access for the all visitors, regardless of whether they are from the capital or further afield.
We welcome as diverse an audience as possible, following our strong belief in the limitless power of culture; easily communicable in any language.
Sofia Gallery is a unique venue, offering a relaxed artistic atmosphere amidst multiple art forms. In fact, the venue itself could encourage its audience to enrich its cultural awareness and also to inspire one’s own creative development!
The Gallery prides itself on being an open window to art and culture, and showcases some of the most significant classical and up-and-coming contemporary talents of Bulgaria. The space houses a permanent exhibition that includes several well-known artists and sculptors.
Sofia Gallery also serves as a platform enabling a great variety of young artists, be it Bulgarians or others whose work or background has a link to Bulgaria, to introduce their work in front of a wide audience and to help them gain international recognition.
Our aim is to turn the venue into a cultural bridge, collaborating and partnering with other galleries and organisations that represent foreign artists. The projects will stimulate the cultural and artistic exchange by exhibiting the work of artists from different nationalities in the collaborating galleries.
The Gallery, with its modern interior, can accommodate functions with a cultural focus, from large-scale performances and concerts to small group events and discussions. It will also host film screenings, fashion shows, literary gatherings, seminars and more!
Please do to come along, and we guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
