Glasshouse

Glasshouse is an art/life/lab dedicated to generating artistic practices that are based on performance in the domestic sphere, under the motto that “Art Should Be Experienced at a Place that Allows Staying”.

Since relocating to South-side Williamsburg in 2012, Glasshouse is regullarly organizing, producing and hosting performances, screenings, exhibitions, workshops and a residency program.

Glasshouse was founded in 2007 by artist Lital Dotan and photographer Eyal Perry who treat hosting as artistic practice.

Alongside Glasshouse's public program the unique nature of our domestic environment allows a deep research into the nature of performance, exploring themes such as unannounced performances, long durational activities, one-to-one performances, accumulated performances and archives of presence and absence; thus expanding the taxonomy of performative practice. These activities as a whole are being interweaved with and by our daily practice and life.

Alongside our curated program we are accepting proposals year round. Our core artistic program for Glasshouse NY changes focus annually under the artistic direction of Lital Dotan. Our current year (2016-2017) is dedicated to 'Edible Bodies'. Previous themes included immersive theatrical projects (2015-2016), Monthly Routines (2012- 2013), Residency Tendency (2013-2014) and Innertia (2014-2015).  

Glasshouse is the art installation of Lital Dotan & Eyal Perry. When not hosting performances our exhibition of performance based works- video installations, works on paper, documentations and sculptures, spread thematically throughout our premises- comes to life. Guided tours for at Glasshouse can be scheduled for Saturday aftrnoons.

We welcome our guests to book an overnight stay at Glasshouse because we believe that art is best experienced when immersed in. Like a good bubble-bath or comforting soup.
