Founded in 1953, in memory of those who died in the nazi camps, the ICIB, known as Casa do Povo, was born as a “living monument”. A place where memory serves as base for the construction of the future. The building hosted the “Nossa Voz” (Our Voice) newspaper, the Scholem Aleicheim school, and the theatre TAIB.
By way of contemporary culture initiatives, it affirms itself as a place for memory and a space for experimentation in constant dialogue with its surroundings, aiming to reach local and international relevance.
