art ON Istanbul

art ON Istanbul, a leading Turkish contemporary art gallery that believes in contemporary art’s leading role in the creation of new and different imagery, was founded in March 2011 by Nil and Oktay Duran. Located along the historical row houses in Akaretler, Istanbul, the gallery has been designed to be an interdisciplinary platform where works of creative thinking are exhibited, art discussions are held and recent artistic tendencies are shaped and embraced.

Developing a programme that enables both young Turkish and international artists to present and exhibit their works of art, art ON Istanbul aims to follow two main paths. The first is to provide an experimental area for artists with different tendencies and styles each of whom is distinguished in her or his unique way of discussing the latest art issues. The second is to create an open-ended dialogue between Turkish and the global contemporary art world.

Believing that creative art will pave the way for different thoughts beyond every kind of identification and limitation; art ON Istanbul holds activities both in local and international areas so as to realize this belief.
