An installation of prints, films and performance by artist Vasilisa Forbes looks at the problematic relationship between us; the human body, and the natural world we inhabit.
About
“Like a flower that yields itself to the morning, one has to choose to live, I said”
A series of short films, prints and performance looks at the problematic relationship between us; the human body, and the natural world we inhabit. As we spiral into a world of greater ecological damage, how can we address the state of our disconnection from nature? What does it mean to feel truly ‘alive’ in an overstimulated but increasingly isolated, laptop-bound epoch, in this nonsensical age of the self-titled Anthropocene?
“My body is a burden, opaque, shaped as in a mound, doomed to repetition”
Through visual symbols, performance and video, the show looks at addressing from the integration of our physical body with the nourishing yet vastly polluted ‘mother world’ around us. Both as an ‘ode’ and desire to reclaim the natural world, and to question the freedom to be connected to the body and feel ‘authentically human’.
