About

You Can Have it Both Ways is a pioneering exhibition where two of Haringey's best artists will exhibit side by side, for the first time. Richard Peacock, whose prints repeat and capture images and words from contemporary culture; and Blaise Thompson, a painter whose canvases explode with colour and texture. Blaise Thompson uses a mixture of working methods including collage and stencil. His love of type, symbol and cartography is evident throughout his work. Canvases respond to particular places, from Cornwall to Cuba, either way the saturation of colour is spectacular. Richard Peacock's prints on the other hand, are linear in contrast but equally intriguing. His colourful geometric abstractions and text-based work, attempt to unravel or at the very least capture modern everyday life. Inspiration is drawn from- commercial packaging, and even text from fairy tales illustrating the comparison with the dilemmas of daily, 21st century life. Wed 2nd Feb 2011, 7 to 9pm will be the exhibition's private view — join us for a chance to meet Blaise and Richard and see this harmonious response to everyday life.
