Writing Workshop for Artists, Akerman Daly, with Patrick Coyle

This is a workshop for artists who would like to explore writing as part of their practice. Whether you need to write a succinct statement about your work, proposal, biographical note or want to explore writing in a more creative vein, this workshop will be of interest to you. Share your thoughts and ideas about examples of writing which inspire you, and discuss its relevance to your practice. There'll be an opportunity to edit your own, or selected texts in small groups and to work on presentation with a view to publication. Eileen Daly and Jeremy Akerman will talk about their work and approach to publishing, writing and working with artists. Patrick Coyle will discuss his own practice and the process of working with Akerman Daly. Patrick will give a live performance of his work Beats I, Beats II and Beats III after the workshop at 5pm. We're fortunate to be able to draw upon the expertise of Jeremy Akerman and Eileen Daly who began their collaboration as Akerman Daly in 2004, with the intention of publishing writing by contemporary artists. They develop projects to be realised in print, online or through performances, and see artists' writing as complementing and extending what artists do. Participants in this workshop will have an option to develop a text with the help of Jeremy Akerman and Eileen Daly and to attend a second workshop in the summer. An additional fee will be charged for this.
