Writing, drawing and physical workshop examining how bodies (not just human ones) are in relation to institutions.
About
When we begin to interact with spaces in ways that depart from convention, there are revelations both about those spaces/places, the bodies that are moving in, through and with them.
Through processes such as writing, drawing and working with our physicality, Kira O'Reilly and workshop participants will explore some of the spaces in Dundee’s School of Life Sciences in order to experience and examine how bodies (not just human ones) are in relation to institutions, and the kinds of ideas and knowledges that are produced within and with them. The workshop derives from ongoing research by Kira and her collaborator artist Jennifer Willet on the concept of the laboratory as a site to question the relationship between bodies and productions of knowledges.
Kira’s workshop will take place at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. This workshop is programmed as part of “Doing Science in a Gendered World” a collaborative project between LifeSpace: Science Art Research Gallery and the School of Life Sciences Athena SWAN Gender Equality Charter. Kira will also speak as part of the associated Artists' Talk. More info.
This is a free workshop and open to everyone.
