Workshop: Sensing Bees

The collective of artists and beekeepers Moabees offers a visit to the colonies of honeybees that live and work in Haus der Statistik. The processor sensors installed in the hives and our physical visual and auditory apparatuses collect information about the beehives. With a bee camera and the photochemical technique of cyanotype (blueprint), shots are taken of the habitat of the bees, found pieces from the house that has been unused for many years and the interior courtyard. The bee camera imitates the faceted eye of the bee: as a source of illumination tor the cyanotype, there is ultra violet sunlight that the bees can recognize, although it usually remains invisible for human eyes.
