About

Women to Watch is a recurring exhibition series that partners the National Museum of Women in the Arts with its outreach committees. The series is designed to increase the visibility of emerging and underrepresented women artists. Since its inception in 2008, the programme has served to foster distinctive networks for engaging artists, curators, arts institutions, and the public at large, in regional contexts. Each committee works with a local curator to select up to five artists, with examples of their work, for a shortlist from which NMWA selects one artist. This artist’s work is displayed at NMWA in
a celebratory group exhibition.

This year, UK Friends of NMWA has been working with Natasha Howes of the Manchester Art Gallery to assemble a compelling shortlist of artists working in paper. The chosen artist will represent the UK in the forthcoming exhibition, Paper Routes: Women to Watch 2020, on view at NMWA from June to September 2020.
