An exhibition of William Tillyer's new folio of 52 prints
About
À Rebours is the second in a special series of five exhibitions at Bernard Jacobson Gallery scheduled to take place during 2018 to celebrate the 80th birthday of William Tillyer. À Rebours (Against Nature) is an exhibition of the new folio of 52 prints by Tillyer inspired by Huysmans seminal 19th C novel, presented to coincide with the publication this February of a new translation of À Rebours illustrated throughout by Tillyer. The exhibition showcases a range of Tillyer’s intaglio techniques including etching, dry point, engraving, aquatint and copper plate, whilst visually the works range from the expressionistic use of colour to monochrome and from loose and atmospheric mark-making to precise and detailed representation.
