William Feaver: IN CONVERSATION WITH GARY HUME

About

Hume is renowned for painting with a bright palette of gloss paint on aluminium using reduced imagery and flat areas of colour. Hume first received critical acclaim with his Door" paintings which attracted the attention of collector Charles Saatchi. Hume's work was included in the 1997 Sensation exhibition, a touring show of Saatchi's collection. For the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (1999), he produced the 'Water Paintings', large-scale works of multiple, overlapping line drawings of nudes punctuated by flat areas of colour."
