This November at the Old Brompton Gallery, Tom Cox, Brian Reinker and Laurence Causse-Parsley are coming together to exhibit a contemporary collection of artworks portraying the urban environment in which we live.
About
Having met at the Make Space Studios in Waterloo, these three London based artists collectively draw inspiration from their experiences of the city. They all have unique technical approaches to their practices including works on canvas, mixed media and installation art.
Where WE Live encompasses the vision of three artists in an exhibition which explores the subtleties and nuances of modern life.
The Artists
Tom Cox (b.1990), a Londoner, can often be found out in the city sketching out his next artwork. Using loose gestural brush marks he captures all of the nuances of modern city living. Quickly establishing his international reputation as a painter of urban life, he has just returned from his latest exhibition in São Paulo, Brazil. All of his paintings are started en plein air with ink on canvas, then further developed in the studio.
Laurence Causse-Parsley (b. 1966) Paints amalgamations of city motifs beautifully deconstructed and jig-sawed together with confident, vibrant colours, unhinged spontaneity and multidimensional textural qualities. The looseness of her subject matter allows each viewer to discover unique aspects of themselves within her paintings. Her consistency in quality, output and concept continues to make her work collectable.
Brian Reinker (b.1960), an architect whose colourful works depict real and imagined places with clean, crisp precision. Drawing from a career in design, he uses graphics, geometry and illustration to create cities, coastlines, rocks, mountains and waterways. In ways both insouciant and meticulous, he renders scenes of vivid geographic fantasia using a variety of media to provoke dialogue about contemporary issues.
