What's art got to do with therapy? : what Art Therapy and psychodynamic theory can tell us about making art.
About
What is the connection between art, sucking your thumb, mental health, psychotherapy and social change?!
Come on a gentle journey to find out what we can learn about art from art therapy, psychotherapy, and child development. Is there any truth to the idea that emotional and mental health struggles help us make art? If therapy can cure our problems, does it stop us making good art? Can artists learn anything about art from psychotherapy?
Along the journey we'll consider how art might emerge from how we relate to each other, and what role art might play in the space between us all.
About the speaker
Oliver Campbell is an artist and member of Lewisham Arthouse. He works as an Art Therapist, working with adults and adolescents with mental health difficulties in the NHS and at an alternative provision school.
