Lorin Gallery is overjoyed to welcome back Suzuki Takako for her second solo exhibition called “We will meet up soon.”
About
The public will be able to enjoy the show from March 5th to April 2nd, 2022. The opening reception will be held on March 5th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 807 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles, CA 90014.
Suzuki Takako, was born and raised in Japan. She is a self-taught artist who discovered a passion for painting from her sister’s painting classes. Today, new technologies are transforming how we can experiment and preserve works of art, but their impact doesn't stop there. They also have the power to transform artistic production by providing artists with new tools, new media, or even new sources of inspiration. Suzuki works simultaneously on canvas and digitally. She first started by sketching on her Ipad. This is where both her imagination and daily experiences meet to create those colorful stories. Suzuki would describe her enthusiasm for creating art as: “ Happy feelings are one of the factors that inspire me to make an artwork. For example, I always try to keep my mind relaxed and live a calm daily life. Anything can inspire me, from nature to food or even animal fur. Sometimes it even inspires my work even though I'm not conscious of it.”
In this exhibit, Suzuki invites her public to come together and develop their own stories when looking at her art. Her goal is to encourage communication between people with different perspectives. She wants new conversations to emerge like a meeting of the minds. "Muguet" is the perfect example to display how far she has come in finding her own painting style. This specific artwork means "Lily of the valley" in French. This flower symbolizes a return to happiness. In designing this artwork, Suzuki wishes to be reunited with her compositions one day and for her public to be cheerful after this pandemic: “I hope everyone who comes to the gallery will smile and shine while enjoying my paintings.” She was hoping to travel to Los Angeles as well, but due to covid’s restriction, it cannot happen this time. Feeling let down, she called this show “we will meet up soon.”
