Join us at Touchstones Rochdale for a unique day celebrating our new season of exhibitions linked to folk culture, craft techniques and radical politics which have shaped the world.
About
Celebrate this traditional holiday tradition with folk and Morris dance performances, live music, family art and craft workshops, storytelling, a heritage walking trail and explore Lancashire dialect poetry. Also available on the day will be a small selection of guest beers for sale and traditional fayre served in the Art Café.
During the Industrial Revolution the tradition of the ‘wakes’ was adapted into a regular summer holiday with each town in Lancashire taking their designated annual holiday on a different week in the summer.
