A Festival of Art History
About
Building on the success of the festival’s first edition in February 2014, View is back for a new edition to explore the multiple facets of art history through debates, conversations, talks, exclusive museum tours, film screenings, student presentations, a special workshop for kids and an art book fair.
This year, some of the most inspiring European personalities in the world of art history will debate and shed light on three main themes: Preserving & Restoring, Avant-Gardes & Precursors, and Defining Civilisations.
After an opening debate exploring the question ‘This is (not) a masterpiece: challenging and re-defining the artistic canon’ on Friday 27 February, Saturday 28 February will be a full day of events at the Institut français in South Kensington.
Sunday 1 March will be dedicated to special guided tours in select London museums including the ICA, Leighton House, the Royal Academy, the Science Museum, Sir John Soane’s Museum, Strawberry Hill House, Tate Modern, the V&A, the Wallace Collection and the Whitechapel Gallery.
Book now for the debates, conversations and films – all other events are free to attend (places will be allocated on the day on a first come, first served basis)!
