Moorfields Eye Hospital will participate in First Thursdays – the first hospital to ever participate in the monthly East London art event. On 4 February the hospital will open from 6-8pm for a new exhibition by London artist Neoh.
About
The first solo exhibition of London artist Neoh will take place at Moorfields Eye Hospital from Thursday 4 February to Friday 3 June 2016. Neoh, who works as an art therapist for the Outsider Gallery London, trained at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. This exhibition, Vandal Therapy, is a visual exploration of his states of mind through a series of expressively painted and vibrant self-portraits.
Neoh’s portraits seem to bear no resemblance to his physical appearance, but through his obsessive compulsion to paint a human figure he creates a rhythm and sense of physical energy in the works which made him, “…drawn to a conclusion that it is a self-portrait.”
For Neoh the world is a canvas where his mixed media works use whatever is nearest at hand: his “obsessive painting” spreads beyond the page to the wall, and even to the streets in a continual quest for a release.
This exhibition is free to attend and open to all.
