“V” an exhibition by Philip Ob Rey. The V monoliths, obscure giants built by Philip Ob Rey, are mysterious and captivating .

About

He represents in FIVE essential elements, creatures made of VHS, dreamlike and disfigurated, in reaction against the growing dictatorship of the mass media and the unstoppable plastic pollution due to the overconsumption of the new technologies.

The “V”s evolve in arid landscapes, lunar-like horizons of a frozen Iceland: dark and contemplative vision of a post apocalyptic ice-aged world, where the digital technology became “extra”-physical: The 4.0 Era-

This is how he stages V, a visual rebirth, questioning the depths of our subconscious, the “After” as the future of the human race.

Just like a nihilistic preacher, he creates a magnified vision of ancestral symbols, holistic elements and exacerbated naturalism of the end of an era and the beginning of another life.

His outstanding dramatic installation is structured by video tapes and fabrics.

Philip Ob Rey will introduce his new project “V” as follows:

V senses, V awakenings, V half-gods half-living Beings, directed through FIVE different media from the 80s to this day, transcending in a post-modern archeology research; his V visions, V Humantropic Senses, V -HS.

V summons the memory of Baraka, Dark Crystal, Holy mountain, Japanese engravings, and the Shadow of the forgotten ancestors of Paradjanov.

V is rooted in the paintings of Leon Spillaert, Odilon Redon, Penone, Anselm Kiefer, Blossfeld, Jean Delville,Gustave Moreau.

V is the spectral echo of Thomas Moore’s Utopia, of Madame Bovary’s vinegared pearls, of Nietzsche’s works and Dostoyevski’s diaries.

V is the memory of the Bible, of the Buddha, of Maupassant’s Horla.

V is chiaroscuro, Butoh dances, Bauhaus, Dairakudakan,

The darkness and its lights.
