The South London Gallery presents Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today, the second exhibition of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative.
About
Curated by Pablo León de la Barra, Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator, Latin America, the exhibition brings together highlights from the Guggenheim’s collection of recently acquired Latin American works, spanning installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and video.
The SLG is the final venue on the exhibition’s international tour, following the Guggenheim Museum, New York in June 2014 and the Museo Jumex, Mexico City in November 2015.
The Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative was developed in 2012 to increase exposure and access to contemporary art from three culturally dynamic regions: South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. The initiative aims to foster cross-cultural interaction between artists, curators, and audiences via educational programmes, online activities, and collection building, in the three focus regions.
