Based in the iconic Aylesbury Estate in South East London, the Turps Studio Programme is designed to fulfil a fundamental and broad view of what we believe a solid painting programme requires by creating an environment that parallels the studio practice of an independent artist, within the supportive structure of an intensive mentoring programme. Currently accommodating twenty-four painters across four generous studios, participants work alongside each other for one to two years, supported by an intense and dynamic programme of frequent mentoring and visiting artists, talks, peer-led projects, crits and gallery events. Each year the content responds to the painters currently undertaking the programme.
Turps Correspondence Course is an innovative project giving painters, where ever they are based, a critical perspective and challenging insights into their practice by connecting with Turps Mentors through a structured and responsive online programme.
Turps Surgeries are offered for painters who want to join us just for a day to bring in their work and develop discussion around both their own practice and that of others. The next Surgeries will be taking place at Turps Gallery in June 2018.
