Iconic London locations get a metallic makeover in the striking new exhibition of sculpture by international artist Frédéric Daty.
About
Using raw, hand-cut steel, Daty’s impressive wall sculptures explore the notion of London’s urban cityscape as an ecosystem, which has quickly become saturated with human beings. By the year 2040, over 50 billion people will inhabit urban zones, and these ever growing sprawling metropolises will increasingly blur city limits. Daty studies this relationship by emptying these overrun spaces of all living organisms, stripping them of their façade and retaining only the city’s core skeleton, carved from one of earth’s most fundamental materials.
“In short, there are always three elements to my work: the metal symbolising Mother Earth and our foundations, the stylised figurative shapes which represent the spiritual realm, and the light and shadows which evoke movement and change.” – Frédéric Daty
The exhibition will run from Thursday 23rd July - Sunday 9th August. Frédéric will be visiting the gallery on Thursday 23rd July 6pm - 8pm to present the new collection in person.
