Location: Temporary Gallery in the Quartiershalle on Campus Rütli - CR², Rütlistraße 35, 12045 Berlin
For the exhibition series TRANSFORMATION, the artists and designers Lisa Baumgarten and Paul Steinmann collaborate with students from the secondary levels of Campus Rütli - CR². The project is accompanied by the art teacher Frank Janssen.
"As designers, we immerse ourselves in a new world with each task. Inspired by Stewart Brands 'Whole Earth Catalog - Access to Tools' (1968), we explore the individual perspectives of the students on their world: "Who are we and what makes us different? What are we surrounded by? How do we see our school and what does life in Neukölln mean for us?" In 18 meetings with the students, we'll go step by step through the processes of (self-)observation to an idea, from the idea to an exhibit and from a collection of exhibits to an installation in space. In doing so, the students deal with the intellectual and visual tools of communication design under our guidance: creativity techniques, material collections, curation, notation and collusion, drawing, collage, photography, video and sound, mock-up and production. By focusing on their own world of experience, the students generate points of contact with their environment in an unfamiliar context. The result will be a walk-in archive of individual perspectives." (Lisa Baumgarten & Paul Steinmann)
The Temporary Gallery's exhibitions and accompanying programs are made possible by private donations. Responsible for the concept are Ida Schildhauer (initiator) and Silvia Ploner (curator).
