About

The Porthminster Gallery, St Ives are pleased to announce their expansion with the opening of a large second gallery premises on Saturday 10th March at the former Westcott's Gallery, also in St Ives. The inaugural exhibition will be ‘Tony Scrivener: Solo Show' ¬— an exhibition of new work by the Dorset-based painter, supported by a selection of signed original prints by the influential 20th Century artist William Scott RA, and complemented with a new body of work by ceramicist Craig Underhill. Curated by David Durham, who has represented Tony Scrivener in his galleries for the past nine years, the exhibition will feature an impressive new collection of trademark landscapes and experimental still-lifes by this distinctive British painter, alongside collectable prints by William Scott RA — one of the major Modern British artists to have influenced Scrivener. This show will set the trend throughout 2012, for a progressive programme of specially curated exhibitions looking at the connectivity in the works and practise of selected contemporary artists, and the 20th Century modern artists who have been influential to the development of their work.
