About
Tomie Ohtake is now considered to be one of the Brazil’s most celebrated artists, with her works famously defining the skylines of Sao Paolo and Brasilia. Although, she only followed her creative calling in her 50s, Ohtake’s abstract painting and ambitious sculptures were exhibited in Tokyo, London and Miami, renowning her as the ‘first lady of Brazilian art’.
Imperfect Geometry presents the audience with artist’s later works, such as monochrome, thick paintings and line-based sculptures, dating back to 2013. The exhibit aims to explore the way Tomie Ohtake discovered line, shadow and light across two and three dimensions.
