About

I dunno man but maybe it's because, like I lack intelligence or something but I just got a bit sick of art just being some shit in a room, you know what I mean? I just think I got a bit bored of static objects, they just seem to kind of stagnate, you know? Things just sitting there doing nothing, I think that's just boring. I mean art can be fucking anything, but it always kind of ends up being kind of the same, just shit in rooms, taking up space. And I fucking hate art that's all clean and perfect and shit, it just seems dishonest, clinical and white washed. It doesn't reflect what's going on, I mean like our entertainment is like the internet and DIY Youtube videos, and our shopping centers are like infested with Poundland and Lidl, nothings really that clean anymore. I want something honest and raw, something with no bullshit. Objects have burnt out, crushed under their own weight and we're not really looking at them anymore. I like shit that moves, shit that is aggressive and violent, shit that kills itself. Stuff like that really thrills me and I don't care if it's like, behind a screen or whatever. But man that's just like my opinion, you know what I mean? Tom Keynes was born in Bristol and is currently studying BA sculpture at Camberwell College of Art. This is his first solo show. Recent exhibitions include: Kevo' The Old Police Station, Newcross, London, 2013 VAULT Shoreditch Town Hall, Shoreditch, London 2013 Foreplay The Bear, Camberwell, London 2012 Public House Projects, 62 Gowlett Road (above the Gowlett Arms), London SE15 4HY.
