About

TIME WILL TELL
For one special night only on April 20th, Shanghai born, multi media artist E. Zhang, invites choreographer and dancer Jordan Kennedy to respond to her participatory installation, 'My Personal Understanding of Human Relationships'. This event is part of her on-going 'Inner Ear' series at Elements Gallery London curated by Rebecca Feiner.

Jordan Kennedy’s work questions the concept time, and how it shapes the person we become. His choreography explores the self to confront the past, while identifying the present, and manifesting the future of self.

This male duet, of hypnotic choreographed sequences, combining the added ingredient of serendipity via Zhang’s challenging, motion inducing installation, which becomes an unseen force and unwitting third character and fellow performer in
Kennedy’s “TIME WILL TELL”.

His crafted patterns of both unison, counterbalance, and weight sharing lifts, become an animated visual manifestation, sometimes unpredictable made physical for the viewer through the movement of the dancers bodies. Moments of improvisation studied throughout the performance directly address the title of Zhang’s installation ‘My Personal Understanding of Human Relationships’.

Accompanying musical score is provided by Tamer Sallam, responding live to Kennedy’s dance through mixing Nils Frahm ‘Kaleidoscope’ on site.

Before and after each performance the artist asks the audience to experience the installation for themselves, as the artists direct rebuttal to the ‘don’t touch’ distancing rules prevalent in conventional gallery spaces.

How will your own relationship with the art unfold, will your sense of balance be disturbed? How will the collaborative relationship between the disciplines of fine art, dance, choreography, music DJ unfold on the night?

Please Note: TIME WILL TELL will be performed at 7.00pm and then repeated at 8.30pm
