About
The contemporary painting exhibition 'Thresholds' draws on the liminal time of twilight, transforming familiar suburban settings into sinister, uncanny dwellings. In the process of manipulating imagery digitally - merging, erasing, cropping and overlaying - altered realities are formed that straddle the threshold between inside and outside; real and imagined; safety and dread. Glowing windows and apertures allude to hidden narratives and a warmth we are excluded from. Whilst loaded with intricacies, Horner’s paintings hold many secrets.
On display are works made during her residency at the Old Diorama Arts Centre as well as selected previous works.
Beth Horner (b. 1995, Hitchin, UK) is currently studying painting at the Royal College of Art, having received her degree in Painting from Wimbledon College of Art in 2017 where she was awarded the Landmark Award and the Arts Society Wimbledon Award.
