About
Open White Gallery is proud to present three international emerging artists in the second exhibition at Facciola basement.
The video work, sculptures and installations are centred around personal themes and relations: towards oneself and situations we find ourselves in, to partners and people closest to us.

Blurring the lines between fiction and non-fiction, Brooklyn-based artist ANNIKA BERRY shows her new video work My American Girl (2019), that explores themes of longing and fantasy. It is a documentation of a relation fabricated between an American woman and German man, that "met" throughout the past decade though the facts of their encounters are unreliable. Her works have been shown internationally, amongst others in Spain, Santa Fe and on the global platform “Project Anywhere.” www.annikaberry.com
SHIN-OH NAM, Düsseldorf-based Korean artist and student of Monica Bonvicini, presents a new installation, spanning across one room and bathroom, addressing the pressure of every-changing situations. Shin-Oh Nam creates concepts that seek to challenge boundaries and broaden the thinking of the beholder. Drawing on the thesis that human minds are influenced and changed when exposed to new experiences and situations, Nam combines the new with the familiar, integrating recognisable elements of everyday life, and shifting our current reality into novel concepts. His works have been shown internationally, amongst others at Sejong Center in Seoul, Gallery Einstosz in Düsseldorf and at Gallery 062 in Chicago.
Copenhagen-based sculptor ESBEN GYLDENLØVE presents a wooden mask, as well as his 2016 sculpture "You are so baby (København - Køge), for which he walked 40 km to the hometown of his former partner. He selected a branch along the way which was afterwards used to create a mold and copy made from wax. The copy was darkened with the pigments of the burnt originals’ ashes. His works have been shown internationally, amongst others at Gether Contemporary in Copenhagen and Rosabrux in Brussels.
