A mixed media exhibition of work from the students of University Of Reading
About
Students from The University of Reading will hold their exhibition ‘This Dark Thing that Sleeps in Me’ at The Horse Hospital. This free exhibition will showcase work by art students and features work made especially for the exhibition. ‘This Dark Thing that Sleeps in Me’ focuses on the ways in which we may work with darkness to present mixed media work, with an emphasis on film, sound and installation. The exhibition will also explore how sculpture and painting may be presented in this unconventional dark environment. Curated collaboratively by the students themselves, the exhibition showcases recent work by young artists who tackle a diverse range of issues, from abstract noise to contemporary portraiture, from minimalist sculpture to video installation, from the body to the cityscape. The Horse Hospital’s mission is to be driven by artistic communities and to create new opportunities for them. By giving the students of the University of Reading the opportunity to exhibit here, the gallery continues to work for the community and support young artists.
