Wysing Arts Centre presents The Ungoverned, the eleventh edition of Wysing Polyphonic festival with international DJs, poets, artists and musicians with new online mixes and soundscapes, a live performance and poetry readings.

About

The Ungoverned brings together collective minds navigating a positive present and rewriting of the past.   Exploring collaboration, exchange, texts, ephemeral gestures and other languages, the works highlight difference and diverse ways of communicating, from the morphing of words to choreographies, soundscapes, dialects and voices.

In the first part of the programme CRYSTALLMESS, mobilegirl, LYZZA, AUDINT and Hannah Catherine Jones have each created mixes and soundscapes experimenting with sound, music and spoken word responding to the idea of being ungovernable and defying norms. These recordings are presented on wysingbroadcasts.art throughout August.

The second part of Wysing Polyphonic is presented as a special live broadcast of readings from Whiskey Chow, Rachel Long and Tanaka Fuego, followed by a performance specially commissioned for The Ungoverned by choreographer and dancer Maëva Berthelot in partnership with musician Coby Sey.

Berthelot and Sey will be in-residence at Wysing for two weeks prior to the broadcast in a one-off experimental collaboration.
