An Installation of works from artists in residence:Lucy Beech/ Edward Thomasson/Karl-Oska Olsson
About
For the much anticipated re-launch of The Old Ship the artists in residence present a series of works conceived, mapped out, constructed and performed in the gallery over a period of 4 weeks. The Artists have engaged in a process of negotiation with one another and with the limitations presented by the site.live internet broadcast on The Old Ship's website.
Following previous exhibitions in London and Berlin the group maintain working within video and performance as they identify the shifting boundaries between filmic and sculptural space, art, theatre and their audiences. The work that remains in the gallery marks the struggle that each of the artists have undergone in pursuing their audience. Though working separately, the final presentation of the work is perceived by the artists as a collaborative installation, within which individual works become facets of a mutual whole; a discordant chorus.
Lucy Beech, Edward Thomasson and Karl-Oska Olsson have been working together for two years as part of a larger, un-named group. The group have shown in Simply Kunst (2006), at the Balhaus, Berlin (in association with RUN gallery) and hosted We Are Buffoons And Can Not Save You (2007), an evening of performance at The George Tavern
