An exhibition envisaged by Katherine Jones. Works on paper by Lucy Bainbridge, Hen Coleman, Katherine Jones, Tamsin Relly and Michael Taylor
About
Each of the artists involved in this exhibition has a highly individual take on the evolution of environments, both natural and fabricated, global and domestic. All five use drawing as a fundamental part of their practice in order to progress an idea and to explore its limitations.
Lucy Bainbridge depicts manmade environments in constant flux while Tamsin Relly draws from first-hand experience of ‘wilderness, erased or constructed for industry or leisure’ from recent research trips to the Arctic Circle and Las Vegas. Michael Taylor uses the history of intimate familial relationships to untangle larger global themes of human conflict and for Hen Coleman ‘The contrast between a terrain of chaotic and abundant nature’ forms the basis for exploration.
The artists have been drawn together for this exhibition by Katherine Jones, an artist whose own work shares the common themes. Her recent work recognises gradual integration of unfamiliar plants adapting to environmental and atmospheric changes which continue to renew the balance and diversity of domestic flora and fauna.
