Coming this March, don’t miss Georgie Mason’s solo show ‘The Soft Animal of Your Body’, an exploration of inner for outer change. Georgie invites audiences on a transformative journey, set to provoke emotion and ignite introspection.
About
Drawing on inner transformation and its ripple effects on the external world, Mason urges reconsideration of our relationship with our animal nature. Through sculpture, soundscape, painting, and kinetic elements, ‘The Soft Animal’ prompts guests to confront discomfort for personal growth, engaging actively with the work to feel the sensations it provokes.
Soft materials such as ram’s wool become nurturing containers for scavenged, discarded and broken materials. This serves as a metaphor for kindness towards the broken or buried parts of ourselves. The circle, as a symbol, embodies connection and community, offering an antidote to individualistic culture that often perpetuates feelings of inadequacy and separation.
"The Soft Animal" transcends mere exhibition; it's a call to action, reminding of our fallible essence and the necessity of inhabiting our bodies for positive collective evolution. As Mary Oliver points to in her poem ‘Wild Geese’ from which this show’s title is inspired, we are not broken; we only have to let the soft animal of our bodies love what it loves.
Join us for a poignant exploration of self-discovery and art as activism at "The Soft Animal of Your Body", where vulnerability meets love.
